Feelin' hot hot hot!
Jul. 19th, 2005 08:23 amThe AC in my car hasn't been working for the last few weeks. This past weekend we bought a mechanic's manual for my car and some stuff to charge the thing, but it won't take the charge (as Brian noticed one part, the compressor (can't remember) wasn't doing what the manual said it should be i.e. spinning). Alas, this means a more expensive complicated fix. I'll have it in the shop next Monday (with a loaner from the dealer), though in the meantime you know that it will be 100+ degrees if you factor in the humidity (like they keep saying today will be). I just spent almost $700 a month or so ago. I hate to say it, but since the car is paid off in a year and has 130k miles on it these expenses are going to get much more common. I pondered leaving it alone since I'm hoping to get a new car next year, but there is no way that is going to happen. The heat is driving me nuts, and I hate getting up in the morning and showering only to get sweaty and gross when I leave my house. Its one thing if I was sitting on the beach or something. Its another to be enroute to work.
I'm also not feeling like going to ballet class on the 3rd floor in this weather. We shall see. Summer classes aren't mandatory as the ones during the year are. If we miss, we don't need to pay.
Brian and I finally caught Charlie and the Chocolate factory last night. Is there such a thing as a bad Johnny Depp movie? I loved this, and in some ways more than the original. Of course, I always love Tim Burton movies. I think he did a better job at expressing the emotions and histories of the characters. The Ooompa Loompa songs were a riot, and Burton always provides a lot of eye candy. It was totally worth the late night and only 5 hours of sleep.

Date: 2005-07-19 01:30 pm (UTC)The compressor died on our older Taurus, and managed to take out everything else connected to the serpentine belt. I feel for you. :(
