White rappers, cats, work, dance, fitness
Jun. 12th, 2006 02:06 pmWe went to MC Chris' show at Harper's Ferry on Saturday night where there were 3 Boba Fetts, 3 Stormtroopers and a female Mandolorian. So much fun! We'll have pics to share later.
On Sunday we took Mal (Dylan in former post) and Jayne (Tysor in former post) home. They seem to be adjusting to us and our house well, and to each other less well (though they are making progress). I'm sure in a few weeks things will be back to normal. I scheduled an appointment for the two of them to get checked out by the vet on Friday afternoon. Mal has a tiny bit of a sniffle (they told us he was getting over something last week) and I want to make sure its taken care of soon. The shelter gave us two files with all of their health info - not only are they altered and up to date on shots but they are chipped too! We aren't planning on letting them out but just in case they are sneaky, its a help.
I drove into the new office today for the first time and got here in less than a half hour, yay! The space is nice and the building is clean (not smelly and stuffy like the last location). We're mostly unpacked, have most of our stuff up and running, and have already scoped out the cafe and the fitness center next-door. Unfortunately I don't get reception for radio stations here it seems (I'm in the middle of the building) and I'm worried about streaming something over our crap internet connection, so I'll need to be sure to bring in some CDs to entertain myself.
Its so weird, I have dance class on Tuesday, rehearsal on Thursday night, potential class on Saturday morning and the recital is on Sunday. I'm not sure yet if we'll have a summer ballet class available to us. Given that its so convenient I may end up signing up for the gym next-door to my new building. Its small but its convenient, inexpensive, and didn't seem to be too busy when we went in there at 1:00. They have about 4 ellipticals, 4 recumbant bikes, 2 stairmasters, 2 treadmills, a selection of weight machines, a good deal of freeweights, mats and showers. I'll have to think about it.

Date: 2006-06-12 07:09 pm (UTC)You've got lots of cool new stuff in your life! Yay for you! As for no radio reception - isn't that what an iPod is for? :-)
pets, music
Date: 2006-06-12 07:27 pm (UTC)Chipped means that there is a tiny tracking microchip that was inserted under their skin. If they ever get out and someone finds them, any vet or animal rescue person with the capability to read the chip w/ a special machine can see who they are, who they belong to, and our contact info. Its something more popular with dog owners, but its something that I guess this particular shelter does with all of the animals automatically. Its apparently not too invasive, and is getting really popular with people nowadays (who knew?!).
And as for music with an Ipod - I do have one but its a first generation, and only gets about 1 hour or so out of the battery charge. I'm trying to figure out if I want to suck up the cost and buy a new one (that will last longer and hold much more music). :)
Re: pets, music
Date: 2006-06-12 07:34 pm (UTC)I completely understand wanting a new one, but if you plug it into your computer and listen through your computer speakers (or computer headphone jack), won't it charge while playing? I have a second gen Mini, so I'll admit ignorance about the older models, and the newer ones too.

Date: 2006-06-12 07:46 pm (UTC)I am going to figuring something out, because bringing CDs in all of the time would be a pain. I'll miss my WFNX/NPR though (I am going to experiment with the streaming internet thing, but I'm not too confident about it - our connection is S L O W). :)
Thanks for the tips! :)
