We met up with Xany Hellion and Mistress Bellona last night for dinner at http://www.solearestaurant.com/ . Brian and I have been meaning to try this place, but going to Tapas with just two is kind of silly. SO GOOD! It was funny seeing how a bunch of WW people rationalize things like banana glazed ribs, flan and Dulce De Leche (hey, there was fruit in it!). :) It was nice to see the two of them, and to be reminded of another friend nearby with similar interests - I see much metal and geeking in our future! :)

It was so hot that we decided to sleep on the floor in our den with the AC last night. Of course, we lost power at some point around 2:00 AM or so, but I have to imagine it was still cooler on the first floor than the 2nd. We have another smaller air conditioner in the basement that we hadn't put in to try and conserve energy and all that, but I'd like to put it in tonight in our bedroom. Sleeping on the floor even on the Sealy mattress from our pull-out couch isn't very comfy. Our cats seemed to have fun though, and kept attacking the moving sheets on the floor. I just hope that Brian remembers to move the bunnies back into that room before he leaves for work, because having them in the living room at night was OK, but I'm worried it will get too hot for them during the day (I'm allergic, so sleeping in the same room with them wouldn't have been a great idea). I can't imagine what the fuzzheads must be going through given their fur coats!

Due to this intense heat and the fact that my dance studio is on the third floor of an old building with no insulation and air conditioning, class tonight was canceled. I'm hoping I can be motivated despite heat to continue working on refinishing that bureau. It needs a light quick sanding, and the first coat of poly. I imagine after one more light sand and a 2nd coat of poly it will be done, leaving just the polishing of hardware before it can go up to our bedroom. I can't wait! I've been holding off due to the humidity, but at this rate the thing will never be finished, so I just have to suck it up. If it takes a while for the poly to dry, ah well. Its not in the way in the garage right now, so I should just suck it up.

In other house related news, we're playing phone tag with a roofer that also does siding, and its looking like he may actually come out and quote us something (as opposed to other people that keep blowing us off). We're considering the option of taking care of the roof and siding now, given that we're in a financial position to do it (either through an equity credit line or a refinance on our mortgage), because who knows what may come down the line as far as home repairs go later on. Given that Brian now owns his truck outright, this is a bit more feasible than in the past. There is much to consider!

We have the same sort of problem finding contractors for our pool. It looked perfect when we bought the house almost 2 years ago, and then it started falling apart. the tiles are falling off, the main vaccume blew up, and the entire bottom needs resurfacing. We can't find a single company that will come out to the house and look at the damn thing. We want to wait till winter to have it fixed anyway. There is nothing better than having a pool 5 steps from your back door when it's 115 degrees out. Eli is a little water baby too
