What a great weekend! We were at Hampton Beach on Friday for dinner, conversation and Skee Ball. It was a cold night and its early in the season but the beach was so dead! I hope that Hampton isn't another thing that's been really important in my life that goes away (like some places in Harvard Square, like The Rat, like the Wallex, like Bickfords, like Salisbury Beach).

I slept late on Saturday for the first time in forever (no dance class) and we ran errands, went to a friend's birthday party and hit a metal show at Mark's Showplace in NH. The music venue was neat: large and comfy, cheap drinks, free pool tables, good sound and all good bands. The Agonist was great (our intended target) and I'd love to see them again - kind of hardcore with speed metal guitars and all band members were nice to look at. After their set we walked over to check out the other part of the club - the strip club. Paying the cover at the music club gets you into the strip club for free, and their drinks are also cheap. Though the ladies were all quite natural looking everyone there seemed like they had been given some qualuudes - I was not impressed. We learned on Sunday that people go there more for the hanging out and the drinks and less for the ladies, so weird! I have to wonder how much they make in tips, and why someone would even want to dance there (though, perhaps that's the norm in NH? I have no clue). I'm wondering if NH's decency laws are *more* strict than those in MA despite the 'live free or die' motto of the state. Its just topless there - no nudity. But I digress . . .

We hosted the family Father's Day gathering yesterday and thankfully, no broken bones this time (nephew broke his arm at our house on Mother's Day). The HD version of Happy Feet was awesome, and though I hadn't planned things that way, watching Savion Glover on the morning of my dance recital was appropriate. My show has its issues, but it was better than expected and I had a good time, so that's the best I could say. We have a week off until the summer ballet class picks up. What still boggles my mind is that some folks participate, yet seem to be having a miserable time all the while. I'm not talking about random mishaps or bad luck - that happens to all of us and we all have crappy days once in a whole (I'm so sorry your day was so bad, Flamingfemme - you sounded so amazing singing and I hope by the end of the night things were going better). I'm talking about people that are so negative 100% of the time and don't seem to get any enjoyment out of any of the process. Why even be there in the first place? I'm curious to see where things go next year.

Tonight, I'm just looking forward to staying in with Brian. I want to cook something at home, put all the costume bits away and do some sewing. My Inara costume will debut this weekend at the Coolidge Corner midnight screening of Serenity and I'm very close to completing it - the Obi is all that needs sewing and that's just a rectangle that will close in some manner at the back - not too complicated.

Yeah, I saw Doro Pesch (ex-Warlock)and Joey Belladonna with Meliah Rage at that venue last week. I really like the sound quality at the club!
That, and it's three miles away makes it nice.\

As for the ladies, yeah, NH is lame, requiring them to wear panties! BOOO!

Meh, sorry the strip club sucked.

I need to listen to these Agonist people if only for a bit.

Hey, thanks! For both the kind words and the compliment. :) I did have a really good time, in spite of the bad day - As they say, "The show must go on", LOL. See you next week!
