I've always loved charm bracelets... It was always a treat when an older one would come in for repair! They put so much detail into charms back then, moving parts and such. But they sort of epitomize what gets me all hot and heavy about creating jewelry... a blurb I've been using:
Humans have been decorating their bodies for a very long time, embracing the practice not long after mastering "food" and "shelter". With roots buried so deep and that travel so far into the past, who is to say that we do not need adornment to live? Jewelry can be many things to many people, or to one; signposts of life events, everyday objects of beauty and individualization, or the unifying detail of what you choose to wear on a given day.
And with a charm bracelet, you can do all that in one piece and it can change: you can move them around (especially easy to do with the Pandora bead system), you can add, you can remove (or give to a loved one), you can be gifted additions... They're just so fun, and have such a rich history.
I can't wait to see it, and thanks for supporting your mom&pop jewelry shop! :D
