That is the good thing the bad thing - one LITTLE bang up and you have to replace the ENTIRE piece thanks to crumple zones. My one major problem (Not my fault thanks the the old guy making a left who stopped dead in the the middle of the road)really only damaged the front passenger side, in the front corner, but thatnks to crumpling, and plastic, I replaced the front bumper, the light, the whole side panel and the hood. Had I had an old piece of crap, I could have just banged out the dent and replaced the light.

I've never done what you did tho, but I have these flaps on mine, and I think mine is a bit higher off the ground. You're lucky you didn't strip the bolts. And you have family that can fix it, I'd have to take mine straight to the dealer. Which reminds me - I need the big 60,000 mile tune up. *bleh*
