Another blog I read is Women Do - she features examples of media expressing shock for things women do. For instance, they are funeral directors http://womendo.blogspot.com/2009/02/bring-out-yer-dead.html . I love it!

Brian and I caught Fanboys at The Kendall last night. I believe the movie is moving on soon (though its opening in RI this weekend) and there were only about 10 of us in the small theater, but we loved it. There were lots of cameos, lots of laughs and they even filmed some of it at the ranch. They put a lot of obscure geeky effort into it, as Brian and I commented on things in the background that he's wanted for a long time (a rare mylar Boba Fett poster that usually goes for around $300), things we owned or had as kids, things that were perfect uber-dork touches. Its funny without being overly mean at the geeks. It has Carrie Fischer and Billie Dee Williams, Shatner, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. Its got an airbrushed conversion van that drives exclusively with Rush tunes. See this with some nerd friends if you can. :)

I hate when women *themselves* act like they're doing something out of the ordinary. Today's networking function was all women and one of them drew [negative] attention to the fact that she runs her own construction company. Yeah, there are fewer women in construction than men, but let that *empower* you; acting like it's weird lets other people disempower you.
