Brian and I are marching again with the 501st and Rebel Legion in the Woburn, MA Halloween parade. I'm wondering if any of you folks would have any interest in coming along to "wrangle" for us, and see the ins and outs of a 501st/Rebel Legion event?

The parade kicks off at 1:00 PM and is a 2 mile (flat, straight) walk. We are required to be in the Woburn Movie Theater parking lot by 11:00 AM, and then the road is closed. We are typically done with the whole shebang by 4:00 PM (it is a large, large parade with an estimated 80k of viewers along the route - Main Street Woburn to the Winchester line - and lots of groups marching), so it requires some waiting in the parking lot and packing some food/water for yourself. The movie theater is very kind and offers us use of their bathrooms and concession stand. The group will typically grab dinner afterwards together, last year at the Burlington Mall food court (to make planning for such a large group easier).

Anyone want to come along? We will have some awesome props this year: An ewok village float complete with ewoks (seriously) and a roving roger-roger droid battle truck, complete with General Grievous (to go with our collection of awesome iconic Clone Wars characters). Brian has been hard at work to build our clone army - 23 new suits on top of the ones we already have in the groups.

It is one of our largest events all year long and we always have a ton of fun. The troops could use your help to keep them in line (wrangling involves helping direct the bucketed folks because they can't see or really bend over, picking up falling armor bits and taping troops back together, helping the rare injured troop into our vehicles if necessary, taking photos, making sure kids from the crowd don't run into the fray). Woburn is a tame, family-friendly crowd and so wrangling for this event is a treat compare to some other large-scale events (St. Patrick's in Southie, anyone?!). :)

Or, just come out and see us march. Park yourself along the route for a show. I figured, it couldn't hurt to ask here if anyone wanted to come out (Melissa graced us with her very helpful presence last year - you can always count on a Browncoat). :)

My god, I would LOVE to help! But I have to photograph a concert that afternoon. :(

I miss my parade days. So much fun, until the kids tried to rip off my head....

It's on the calendar. :-) I have a dog to sit for that weekend who can't be left alone (well, she can, but she barks the entire time and the neighbors get testy), but if I can figure it out about the barking -- no can't take her with, she's terrified of crowds -- will wrangle. So that's a big maybe. But will try.

I am finally following up on this! :) If you want, we could also use help getting back to the start of the route at the end of the parade. There is a parking lot next to a pond near the end of the route (in Woburn on the Winchester line), so if you wanted to park there, walk up to Main street to watch the parade, and when you see the SW peeps come by help transport us back to the Woburn Movie Theater lot where we started, it would be hugely helpful! Even if you could only fit a couple of troopers in the back of the car, it would be something. :) You could catch a nice parade, not have to do a ton of walking and help us out at the same time.

And after the parade we typically just go for dinner at the Burlington Mall food court, which we'd love for you to join us in if you would want (much easier to try and find space for 50 or so people there, when we don't know exactly we'd be looking for food).

Let me know what you think. If you are interested, I can get you all of the info on where to park and such. Thanks. :)

Sounds do-able. Let me check with T before I make a firm promise. We'd be using his SUV: how else do you get all that plastic in a car?! I'm guessing we could manage 3 in the passenger seats, and a 4th if they're willing to be cargo in the back. If I bring my car too, that's another 3 seats, though I've got a low Hyundai hatchback.

I would but I have a wedding the day before and will likely be recovering and returning from NH.
