A note I sent my Dad after some digging last night:
Hey Dad,
I found the marriage license for Gene and Harriet, your [paternal] grandparents.
It notes who their parents are:
Gene's were Antone Marmonti and Mary DeRusseau. Gene was born in Paris, married Harriet in 1913 in Chelsea.
Do you think that A. Marmonti (from that black mass card) is Antone Marmonti? It would have put him at around age 38 when he fathered Gene with Mary, old but totally possible. Which could mean, that he died in the US assuming that was his mass card. I bet some digging in the Fall River area (by that historical society) would turn up which churches were there at that time [the card doesn't give a church name, but the printer of the card was in the Fall River area, noted on the back of the card]. I am dying to see that death certificate that you have and try to figure out who it belongs to.
I've attached the marriage license . . . they are line 52 near the bottom (Harriet's parents are also noted). I also attached the mass card.
I'm going to keep digging, I just thought you'd find this interesting. The 1920 census indicates that Gene was a citizen at that point, came to the US in 1889 and was naturalized in 1916 (though, his WWI draft card notes that he's still an alien at that point, so who knows . . . apparently they weren't so big on accuracy with dates in those days). If I can find his naturalization records I may be able to find out specifically how he came to the US (on what boat, what port) and from what city, and that should note who he came over with on the boat specifically and which family/address they would be going to.

We have wondered who A. Marmonti was. We have wondered how my great-grandfather came over from France and who with, and I have wondered where the Marmonti's originally came from. This is the first time I had a name for my great-great grandparents, and gives us some kind of clue for digger further back to the homeland(s).
The last time I really did some digging there was much less indexed data at various free sites. I have been dying to find this marriage license! Next up, digging at immigration records.
