I had posted about some house things we're working on. Yesterday was a very productive day along those lines!

We checked out http://woodstuff.com/ in the hopes to find a microwave cart (or have one made) that would store ours on the top, and underneath have some shelves hidden behind doors that could store our small appliance stuff. A custom-made unfinished one at the measurements for our space was only $250, not too bad at all! We'll paint it to match our cabinets and it will be nice more finished-looking and more child-friendly solution. It will go where the smaller shelf is in this picture http://www.flickr.com/photos/dancerjodi/6041923028/in/photostream , underneath the window.

For the hell of it, we first checked out http://www.yelp.com/biz/global-thrift-store-waltham across the street. You never know what they'll have in those kinds of places. What we did find was a $20 changing table. Originally we were going to keep our eye out for some kind of bureau, but you really couldn't beat the price of this. We'll store stuff in bins underneath, and if we really want to there would still be some room to store a bureau in there if we find one that works well. The wood on the changing table matches that of my old toy box (Dad made us each one when we were kids), so it is all good. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dancerjodi/6042470250/in/photostream Our first baby furniture purchase! Our first baby anything purchase I think (not counting the body pillow I had picked up a while back).

It will be a busy week. We're heading out to Marlboro to pick up some free baby stuff from a friend after work tonight, and will grab dinner out there. I have dance class tomorrow, and we have dinner plans Wednesday and Thursday. Part of the weekend is up in the air, but we'll be hitting the Hampton Beach Zombie march on Saturday afternoon (steps off at 3:00). Busy busy! I can't believe we're already in mid-August. I do have to say that the darkness when I awoke this morning and the coolness in the air (despite the rain) makes me excited for fall - my most favorite time of the year!

We found some awesome bins at Target for our changing table. We also went to Woodstuff to get cube shelves that we're painting and filling with fabric drawers. I'll take a picture when I'm done.

FYI, the guy at Woodstuff suggested using Kilz as primer so the knots won't show through the paint.
