Waltham: First city with lap/shoulder belts on busses

We do this in our cars, why not pay the extra $2 per kid per year to have on school buses? Congratulations to the Waltham4Seatbelts group and all of your had work in getting this implemented!

Wow. Interesting. When I first read it, I missed the "first in the state," and I was about to point out that the Wausau, WI school district has had shoulder belts on their school buses for a couple of years, now, and lap belts for far longer.

But, yeah, that wasn't in Massachusetts.

Yeah, some districts have the lap belts, but I guess lap/shoulder is a newer phenomenon. This committee worked on this issue for years at various levels of the government and the vote was last spring/summer at the School Committee to get them instituted for this school year.

Cool! Here's hoping other school districts follow suit - hopefully before some large scale accident convinces them its a good idea.
