It is Friday. Yay! It's been a busy day with meetings and then I ran out to Target for some home necessities (and hello, diapers - love the Up and Up ones). I grabbed lunch (I splurge and get something out on Fridays) and came back to get going on some projects.

Brian and I are going to brave Fire and Ice tonight with Mina - this should be interesting. I'm on their mailing list, and so I get a coupon in my e-mail each year for a free birthday dinner (good from now until my birthday next week). We shall see how this goes! It will also give us an opportunity to say goodbye to the Harvard Square theater. Brian and I met on Church Street outside of the Full Body Cast's Rocky Horror Picture Show, many years ago. We started dating a couple of years after that, after some flirtations at Man Ray. Man Ray is gone alas, and has not been replaced. Though the Full Body Cast will move on to a yet to be announced new venue (and they were in the Exeter Theater before the Church Street one), it won't be *our* theater. It is funny, because Brian and I were in the square last weekend and I told Mina as we crossed the street to head to our car near the Commons "Baby, that is where your Dad and I met"! We should take a picture of it tonight, or something.

Having a child now is reminding me of things from my own childhood I had forgotten about. Like shopping for back to school shoes at http://www.thebarnfamilyshoestore.com/index.html. I saw the sign on Washington Street the other day and got all sappy, thinking I should bring Mina there for shoes someday. I am so excited to introduce her to Hampton Beach and the White Mountains this summer (who cares if she is so young that she won't be able to fully appreciate it).

We are seeing Rock of Ages this weekend. I'm skeptical of the movie given the changes from the musical which I loved, but I'm trying to keep an open mind. All accounts on the movie say that Tom Cruise rocks his role/singing, the story and other acting sucks, but the music is fun. I wonder if my souveneir shirt from the musical fits over the girls nowadays.

I'm looking forward to taking tomorrow kind of easy and weather-willing, going for a nice walk in our hood and checking out the farmer's market. Maybe hanging on the Waltham Common for a bit . . . I want to check out Mina's little sun shade/screen/tent thing!

The Barn is where I buy most of K's shoes, too. I grew up in NYC, so it was "Sneaker Circus" for me as a child (in Park Slope Brooklyn), so I have no childhood associations with the Barn, but I really love the place, good selection and prices!

I'm sad about the end of a Rocky Horror era, too. It was Rocky Horror that caused me to first meet people in Boston back in 1991, which started me towards moving up here, so in a real way, it changed my life.

We enjoyed Rock of Ages and talked about you guys... Adam remembered you talking about the show at one point. The movie isn't amazing in every way, but man did we enjoy the music. The two main characters are the least interesting of the bunch, but the rest makes up for it!
