Ballet class is tonight. Our group has gotten a lot smaller for some reason which kind of bums me out, but it is what it is. Then, we are on to the weekend!

Last night was a bit crazy with family and friends stopping by. It is nice to see people, but then it changes up the evening routine with getting Mina fed, bathed and into bed. Still, I think it is important to shake things up a bit here and there. I miss seeing friends later at night, but given the sleeping issues we had with our muffin early on and that she really, consistently seems to want to go to bed around 7/8 PM and wake up around 5/6 AM, messing with that ends up being very disruptive for settling her later. She is almost 9 months old, but we are still trying to stick with having her home for bed around this time (for the most part) and then having a couple of hours to ourselves before going to bed ourselves.

Mina is still fighting the same cold that she's had for a couple of weeks now. The poor girl seems to take after her mum, where if the cold goes to her chest it takes a while to clear. :/ She's had no fevers and is having no issues breathing - she's just snotty/coughing. She kept wimpering in her sleep last night, but slept through most of the night despite it. Poor muffin! She is always so much better once she's up and around.

(have you noticed yet that Brian and I have 100 different nicknames for our daughter?)

After we pick up our CSA share on Saturday we are going to troop at the Star Wars Read and Bleed event in RI http://starwarsblog.starwars.com/index.php/2012/09/27/you-don%E2%80%99t-have-to-be-a-jedi-to-be-a-hero/ . We'll stick close to home on Sunday - things have just been too crazy. How do parents of young kids manage to care for their yards? We have turned into that house with the overgrown weeds, I am afraid. If the weather holds out I'm hoping we can clear some things up and do some prep for the winter on Sunday. Different sources keep suggesting it will be a doozy. We definitely got off easy last year (Halloween storm notwithstanding).

Friends...

when we had a 7pm bedtime, it was easy to have friends come over around 7pm. One of us would take care of bedtime and the other would entertain. Now, he has an 8pm bedtime so we're more likely to have people over for dinner at 6:30-7, he joins us for dinner, and then again, one of us takes him to bed.

I think it's a good thing to have friends over once a week or so. More than that, I can see it getting stressful because the routine can be very comforting for EVERYONE in a household with a baby, just because life has so many added stressors and things to keep track of.

Now that he's old enough, I can go out and weed while he runs around the yard and plays. Sometimes he even helps me!

I can recommend a great landscaper in Waltham who can take care of all that for you, just to get caught up. I couldn't manage ALL the spring/summer cleanup on my own after it had been left for a few months (the previous owners moved out to their summer home and left the place alone for a few months - all through weed-growing season.)
