I finally finished that paper. It wasn't the best work of my life, but I'm not really expecting this semester to go that way anyway. I just want to get this course over with - gotta love boring required classes!

B and I went to Borders Books last night after I finished my paper so we could sit in the cafe and spend some time together just the two of us, doing something that wasn't an errand (of course, I *did* have my stats book with me to read, but that's nothing new). There is an awesome woman that works behind the counter at the cafe who is there on Tuesday nights; talk about customer service at its finest! We also ended up getting all three Evil Dead/Army of Darkness movies and Strictly Ballroom for only around $60, MAN are their DVDs cheap (and they have an amazingly diverse selection).

So I think I found my new favorite dangerous place to spend money. It tends to fluctuate between bookstores, music stores and lingerie stores ;)

Its hump day - day o' no lunch hour at work, sitting through a boring class after work and hopefully tonight, some snuggle time with the hubby. I can't believe how quickly this week is going . . .

Nope, we chose a table (easier for me to do my homework) - it was the one on Rt. 9 (I prefer that to the newer, huger ones)

Huh, oddly enough, I found their prices rather disheartening, but then again I was looking for CDs, not DVD's. Maybe I'll go see how much Strictly Ballroom is, the next time I go bother The Rodda at work *evil grin* He's so CUTE working all hourly and all. *lol*

Whee, I need to get to work!

ooh. I was just going to say - I LOVE that movie (strictly ballroom).
The first time i saw it, I wanted to learn how to dance like that.

hmm. Reminds me, I think I need to own it as well.

most of the dvds that i picked up were around 15 dollars. they do go up to 30 though.

for me, 30 is the mental pricepoint of dvds. i tend to round money in my head, and 10 dollar increments are generally how it goes. so it's either 10, 20 or 30 dollars. since most dvds are > 20, i think of them all as 30.

Um.
Dude, just so you know, that makes NO sense.
"They cost 15, but I think of them as costing 30."

actually, it does, to me at least.

it's sort of like time. i account for time in a minimum 1 hour increment. so whether it's 55 minutes or 10, it's 1 hour. as in, if i was charging someone for work, there's no 1/4 hour rate :)

for money, 10 is usually the minimum amount i think of money in. so actually, in the case of a 15 dollar dvd, that's really cheap at 20 dollars. if the disc was 22, it would be 30. this comes from the fact that 10 is the smallest amount that comes out of an atm. so if i wanted a dvd that was 22, i'd need to get out 30. this is rapidly shifting to $20s which is a bit annoying.

once i've got that 8 dollars change, it evaporates into a soda here or a trinket there. so once that 10 is broken, it's doomed.

odd question inspired by having worked retail and so forth: have you mentioned to the very good customer service person's manager that you were pleased with the service? i always try to because it can be a real self-esteem boost in less than desirable jobs to have it appreciated and my hope is always that it'll be remembered and help that person out down the road (raise, promotion, time off, free cookies:).

Having also worked in retail and food service, yes, I have done this for her before (she's ALWAYS there when we go) :)

She also thanked *me* for being a considerate customer for bringing our empty dishes up to her (and we then proceeded to share yucky customer stories from our past).
