So we went for it, we bought the Kenmore Elite (and in Stainless, no less). I feel so decadent buying the most expensive fridge that Sears sells :) But we've had lots of luck with all the stuff we've bought from them before, there was no finance charge for one year AND the woman took $300 off of the price (I guess on Saturday it was on sale and even though we were there on Sunday, she gave us the sale price anyway. So on March 30th you can all come over and see this monstrosity. It will make our kitchen look even *more* silly in its ugly old state (except, with a sexy stove and fridge).

B and I picked up some meat at Roche Bros and had our first cook-out of the season with Bad Andy (he was over to play in the garage). I'm so excited about actually being able to enjoy our yard this year; last summer we spent all free time inside the house doing the massive rewiring/renovation project.

Oh my God - my Dad called yesterday and asked if we wanted their swimming pool! Its an above ground, 4 foot deep pool (the largest above ground you can buy - its oval shaped). It will be a bit of work to get it but I just swooned over the thought of cook-outs and peaceful floating with friends over the summer. Its so nice to be able to jump in after a day at work and long, sweaty drive home in the traffic. We'd need to get a plot plan, need to do some prep in the yard (like, digging up the lawn where the pool will go) and would need to fence in the yard so that little neighborhood kids couldn't fall in and drown. Dad said once snow thaws they'll take the fun task of emptying and disassembling the thing, and then will bring it over to our house. Then we'd need a crew to help us get the thing up.

So very odd, a free swimming pool! I need to call my Dad to tell him we will take it (we wanted to think about it a bit) and then will need to get the planning rolling. I'm hoping to get both one of those vacuums that goes around the bottom of the pool by itself AND a heater (I think above-ground pool technology has come a long way since my parents first got this one over 15 years ago, I *think* you can get heaters for above-ground pools now).

So we could have the netgoth pool party part II! I'd show you pix from the last one (1997, I think) but B moved them or something on the server and they aren't linked to my website where they previously lived :/

Freaky!

something on the server was either moved, or in the updating process for my site that page didn't get moved over.

Ah well, se la vie!

i found them... you apparently didn't have copies of the pictures in your local folder (on your computer at home)

i just restored them from the backup of your page from before the last update.

Those things were set up when we were still in Waltham - who knows where the files have moved around since then :)

Thanks :)

Given that we'll be shelling out $ to get the pool set up, it will be longer till we get a hot tub. Still, I can't really pass up a free swimming pool!

Ahh, the progression toward Griffin Grove annex continues! We've often thought of the above ground pool but I don't know where to put it? Ha, Ha. It also seems silly with the brook and all. I think we just need to figure out how to damn the brook to make a swimming hole in a private location.

Did you get the service plan on the fridge? If you didn't, I think they will let you change your mind for up to 30 days. I HIGHLY recommend it. We just got our 3 year old vaccum cleaner completely rebuilt and it cost more than it did to buy. Actually, just about all our appliances have had something major done to them which was well worth the price of the plan. Its also a good move environmentally. When it breaks it gets repaired instead of thrown out in preparation for the new one.

Sears stuff

"Did you get the service plan on the fridge?"

Yup (and, all the other stuff we have bought from Sears). I like how they'll come out and do a 'tune up' each year, too :)

Nice, a pool! I miss the pool I once had, nothing better on a hot summer evening after work.

Heh, weren't we just talking about the waiting for the hot tub.
And remember - collect for the "You're going to be using it, and more than likely we DON'T want to see you naked, but you will be anyway *shudder*" fund.
*evil grin*

What are your parents doing? Getting rid of a pool altogether?
And I guess B gets to play with that CAT afer all *LOL*

Pool-ey goodness

"Heh, weren't we just talking about the waiting for the hot tub."

Yeah, I think it will cost us around $500 to have a plot plan done, buy some fencing and get the CAT to dig down a pit for the pool (it *is* an above ground, but you need to dig a bit for support). We still want to do the hot tub thing eventually . . . it will be an interesting back yard when we're through with it!

"What are your parents doing? Getting rid of a pool altogether?"

Yeah, my guess is that they don't want the liability with it in the back yard when they are renting the house out (or, did you miss that part that this summer they are moving to NH and renting out the house to college students?).

"And I guess B gets to play with that CAT afer all *LOL*"

I figured I'd let him anyway - this just gives us more of a reason.

No, I didn't miss the whole "move and rent" part *makes a face*
I guess I'm actually having trouble seeing it happen. *shrug* Not that it's really any of my business, I just keep saying "Huh?"
Well, you get a pool now, and a new toy for B (the poool AND the CAT, although that's only a rental *lol*)
