The hubby-pooh and I went on a date last night. We were supposed to cook something at home and then head out to see his Mom for a visit (that's right, he heard from her) but she ended up being out. Out of laziness I suggested Burger King since it was quick and cheap (and from time to time I get the craving to go for one of those chicken sandwiches). While sitting in the booth and finishing off fries with BBQ sauce we decided to head out to Harvard Square, it being a nice cool-but-not-cold evening.

We picked up the last Starblazers DVD of the first series finally (they are soon releasing number one of the Comet Empire series - woo hoo)! I've given up on finishing that dress for halloween since I just don't feel like sewing it right now so I picked up an addition to the alternate costume at Urban Outfitters. It was nice to be walking around in a rushed and crowded city area with like-minded individuals (compared to the more relaxed Southerners in NOLA). I'm such a New Englander at heart!

On the way back to the car we stopped at Algiers; I've been to Harvard square many times over the last 12 years of my life but never managed to make it in there. It was overpriced as expected (I guess you pay for the atmosphere) but they make a mean mixed iced tea (black, green and fruit all together). B and I walked down Brattle - hand in hand - back to the car. Over near the Radcliffe campus he gave me that cute smile and said "I had lots of fun tonight". I got that tingly feeling that I always get when in an exceptionally schmoopy mood - "Yeah, I guess it was a date" and hugged his arm.

I like to do those things from time to time with B. It doesn't take much (even cooking at home by candlelight or a dinner at Taco Bell can do it). We're always so concerned about the hustle and bustle of work, errands and making time for friends that the two of us don't get to make time for each other that often. I am very thankful for the joy that we have in our life despite some difficulty from time to time.

********

There are so many hurting people around us right now that I'd like to give a virtual hug. Someday they'll all have this kind of peace in its own unique form in their lives if they stay true to themselves and don't give up on actively living each day.
