They spoke with an author this morning on NPR of this book: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0312301839/qid%3D1033937104/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/103-2118395-6228664

And the first thing he mentioned was my hometown, the place of the first factory (I think) in the US or at least I know, in New England. We're said by many to be the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.

This book has lots of things I'm interested in in it - the role of women in the workplace, the Industrial Revolution, immigration and of course, my home town.

After paying tuition, a credit card bill and my car loan this week I'm a bit dry (mental note to pick this up later) :)

And one of these days I'll actually get my butt into the Charles River Museum of Industry (in the old Cabot Lowell Mill building) and into the Waltham Museum (on the street that B and I used to live off of).

Yes, I'm a history nerd :)

B and I went on a date last night, since both of our dinner plans were messed up we decided to check out one of the local restaurants together. We went here http://www.bostonphoenix.com/listings%5Cfood/by_restaurant/IPANEMA_RESTAURANT_AND_CHU.html which moved recently from its first home in Southboro to a nice, big place on Rt. 9 West in Framingham, right before Edgell Road.

The food was *so* yummy. As was our waiter. B kept making fun of me for my subtle flirting with the cute Brasilian boi each time he came to check on us.

Random notes, they have dancing on Friday nights where "Ladies" get in free and "boys" have to pay $5 (no kidding, that's what it says on the flyer).

I think if we're still living in Framingham by the time I'm done with grad school and have some more time, I may try and learn Portuguese. Having the background in Italian should make it easier, and it would make life easier living in "Little Brasil" and being able to read all of the signs in the store windows :)
