I got up at the time I usually do (figuring I'd just get to work on time rather than early, or even a teeny bit late), showered, dressed, fed and shot up the cat, fed the rabbits and shoveled snow galore before heading out for work.

It took me 25 minutes to get from my house to the Mass Pike (usually only takes around 8 minutes or so). In this time I heard on NPR that MA State workers were told to stay home, Boston city workers were told to stay home, and that the State Police were urging "non-essential workers" to stay home. I'd say I qualify :)

So I drove back home (to find my street blocked off by a bunch of cruisers around a snowed-in car (not sure what they were doing) so I had to drive 1 block down to get into my street in another direction. I finished up shoveling what I skipped earlier and now I'm safely in the warmth of my house.

I know its OK with my boss - she stressed very heavily that I shouldn't kill myself to get into work, but I feel so decadent. And it figures, TOMORROW I'm eligible to have paid time off (I'll have met the 90 day mark).

Ah well, stay safe people! It was very slippery in the driving that I did do today (and it takes much for me to say that, since I'm one of those snowwholes ;) ).

Okay . . .

I guess I *am* an essential worker :) Basically, if I head in late (like, leave for work in a 1/2 hour) I won't lose any pay (if I stay out, I won't get paid for today).

Off to get oatmeal and then head into work!

OK,

This is just silly :)

I got here at 10:45
I'm leaving at 11:30 to drive to the Melrose Campus for a meeting that goes until 1:30
I'll be back here around 2:00
I'll leave to head home at around 3:30 or 4:00

I did find out that the company has a policy of letting us come in <= 3 hours late on bad weather days without docking pay/vacation time (hence, why it was OK that I came in at 10:45).

The funniest thing is that I STILL got here way before a bunch of the other employees who live in this town or the next one over (and, have parents or landlords to shovel them out) . . .
