Last night's class was good. I guess the assignment we were to do had the wrong due date on it (a week away) so only myself and one other person did it. Why did I do it? Because I didn't even read the due date on the assignment sheet. They said in class after all that it would be due in a week.
So, we spent most of the 2.5 hour class talking about our two projects alone (rather than briefly touching on everyones). I got a lot of good feedback and think I found a way to direct my analysis. What I really want to focus on are the organizational processes that impact hospital length of stay and unfortunately there isn't a good quantitative way for me to measure this. As a result, its looking like my paper will consist of some initial descriptive statistics (to describe what our LOS and Casemix has done over time) and then just a whole bunch of interviews and meeting observations to fill the bulk of the paper. Its less statistical than I had hoped but really, I don't do advanced statistics at work ever (I just thought it would be good to get into it again, you don't use it you lose it and all). Its also going to be very political - I have to be VERY sensitive about what I ask, who I ask and how I write up the findings.
Today will be a busy day, I have to get ready for some important meetings coming up next week. I've also had a frustrating couple of days dealing with issues that shouldn't be that big, yet people's inactivity, not caring at all or misunderstandings made the problems bigger. Blech!
Its almost the weekend though! That makes me happy. :)
