Brian and I made it to http://www.americasheartandsoul.com last night at the Embassy Theater. I wanted to check out Dave and Frank's segment and it sounded like a sappy, sentimental movie that would be right up my alley - I was right. I will definitely buy this when it comes out on DVD one, because it was so weird to see high school friends on the big screen on a Disney moive. Two, I think my parents (or at least my Dad) would really like the movie. It was quite inspirational.
One of the topics stressed in the movie are people's connections to their homeland. More than a few people talked about how the land they were on was occupied by their ancestors for years and years and years. They didn't emphasize that with the Pinos however (despite interviews in papers touting their dedication to their hometown, so much so that they named their band after it). Still, it was a nice movie (and Brian even enjoyed it). What was even better was walking home from the theater to see a brilliant and huge yellow moon in our path. Earlier yesterday we walked to my parent's house for their early 4th BBQ (since we'll be in Rockport today) and before that we had walked down to Outer Limits to get free comics for free comic book day.
We bought a new dining room set yesterday too! It will arrive in 3 weeks. After doing lots of discount used furniture and antique shopping we ended up at Bernie and Phylls. They have served us well with our green living room set, and the blue couch we have in the den. On July 20 our dining room set will be delivered. Here's the dining room set (table, china cabinet) - we got different chairs that are also black and cherry but less informal; 6 of them:

Now all we need is an electric fireplace to complete that room - it will look nice, take care of the lack of fireplace in this house (we won't have a good place to put a woodstove) AND will cover up a space on the wall that had an awful plaster job done at some point. The house is turning into a home - slowly but surely.
