They always go by so quickly! Yesterday was a fitting end to it though with getting some things done and spending some schmoopy time with the hubby.

I have new tires, we took pictures around the hood', finally saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and did lots of thinking about family and community: Read more... )

This time of the year always makes me very thoughtful of days gone by and of the future. I definitely miss the large family gatherings we used to have. I also miss the group of friends we used to hang around with (sometimes the Bickfords Crew, sometimes the "Breakfast Club" brunch group). I'm also liking the return to the local community. Its made me feel good to be able to patronize local businesses and make a connection to our city. Brian's really been sucked in (neener neener neener).

I feel like I'm at a crossroads in terms of building new traditions - it will be a nice adventure.

On that note I'm off to fill my large glass with water and get crankin' on work. I've got much to do this week!

According to WFNX, Colin Powell put in his resignation (I hadn't heard anything about it on NPR this morning).

I'm holding my breath to see what new Administration and Supreme Court justices will bring . . .

Well then

We went to Ruby Tuesday's after the Megadeth show for a later dinner - it was the first thing we found that was open on our way home. The food was decent, service excellent. I brought 1/2 of my chicken sandwich home since I had ordered soup as well.

That 1/2 chicken sandwich was my lunch today. You know what? It wasn't cooked all the way through! Looks like it will be a hungry afternoon. At least it didn't get me sick on Saturday. Brian will tell you there's nothing I fear more illness wise than Salmonella, ick!

Ugh

A while ago I posted a schmoopy wedding announcement for a couple in the 501st. Later I posted the link to pics from their wedding - they were married by an Elvis impersonator in Vegas. The bride was given away by Darth Vader and local troopers were in attendance.

She just informed the group that her husband will be away from trooping duties for a while (he's the head of the 501st). His youngest daugher was just diagnosed with a brain tumor. I'm not sure how old she is, but she's little (the couple is in their 30's I believe).

Fucking Cancer, get a life and leave people alone, will you!?

****

Please keep them in your thoughts.
