The weekend, in brief
Dec. 6th, 2004 10:32 am"FILM":
Friday we had peeps over to watch the awful http://www.starwarsholidayspecial.com/ and other things. It was quite the diverse group but everyone seemed to get along. I wish we could have had a sleepover followed by brunch :)
COMMUNITY SERVICE:
On Saturday we trooped in Fall River for http://www.cfcinc.org/ . It was very touching to see how active this community group is with their annual "Operation Christmas" fundraiser which is their ONLY fundraiser each year, and makes up 80% of their budget (the remaining 20 is from the state/feds). We did photos with people for $5 and the money went to the charity - raising almost $200. The 'kid that almost made us all cry' award for the day goes to a little 5 year old who was pushing himself around in a walker. He's recently seen the SW movies and was so excited to see all of us. You can see pictures here (though they are the ones we took with peeps, not a lot of 'action shots'): http://www.501neg.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=207&page=1
HAPPY HOLIDAYS:
Sunday was the day to get 10 billion things done, and we accomplished a good deal of them. We have a tree to decorate tonight (the branches needed to settle still), we got some lights up in the front of the house (some died over the year, need to stop and pick them up on the way home tonight), got some holiday gifts (whoot) and we made out the cards (need stamps).
SCHOOL:
Yesterday, I also started my final Social Policy paper that's due 8 FRICKEN DAYS FROM NOW! Actually, its due on the 22nd, but I don't want to have to go back to UMB after the last class next Tuesday. This means that if I get this done I'm finished with school in 8 fricken days! So like, don't expect me to have a lot of time this week or coming weekend to do anything. :)
