Subject: december graduation
Hi Margie,

Jodi [Last Name] is to graduate from our program this month. I'm
writing just to make sure that everything is set for her (except for the
outstanding internship grade) and to ask how she is to receive her
diploma. Will it be mailed to her?

Thanks in advance for any info or referral,
Prof. Schutt

Dr. Schutt: Jodi needs her two fall 2004 grades and she will be all set
for a December degree. Her diploma will be mailed to her directly from
the diploma company.

I am, of course, very happy for you.

With one thing and another, I never got to ask you. How is your gramm doing?

That's kind of up in the air. She's out of Newton-Wellesley but is now has a bed at a rehab/nursing hospital so that they can evaluate her and see what the next step is (i.e. go home or go to a long-term nursing home). I'll keep you (and other peeps) posted via LJ land.

There's more family-related drama that goes along with this . . . I'm going to post about that shortly in my journal once LJ stops doing maintanence and its not read only :)

I just read an article on boston.com on electronic records:
"Within five years, physicians could be able to access patients' records from any hospital or doctors' office in the state under a new "eHealth" initiative financed with an infusion of $50 million from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

The project, which will begin as a pilot program in three communities, could make Massachusetts the first in the nation to have a statewide electronic medical record system, which would allow doctors to easily see what kind of care a patient has received from other physicians, avoid duplications, and prevent medical errors."

I thought of you when I read this! Maybe someday soon I'll start seeing *your* name in articles like this. :-)

Congratulations in advance!

I heard that on the radio on the way home from work and my mouth dropped. Having state backing would definitely get our docs to smarten up and jump on the bandwagon . . . a lot of ours are still very old-school traditional and don't like to use computers in general :)

I'm very curious to see how this state program develops. Both Tufts Health Plan and Blue Cross are putting up a lot of money for us to incent our docs to go in the EMR direction (HPHC will too, but we're still in contract negotiations with them, so nothing is final yet). Next year we stand to get 1 million dollars alone from insurance payers if we meet our EMR goals (and that's not counting HPHC) - and that's just 1 year, for a measly 300 or so doctors!
