Operation Gazebo went well last night. Gram lit up when she saw it, and ironically had been talking about the one behind her home 5 minutes before we got there. She asked my cousin if he could drive by and see if it was decorated. Alas, they don't allow extension cords in the place so she can't plug it in! I'm going to see if I can find some small battery operated lights and put them on later for her. My cousin Deb took a pic of Gram and I with the Gazebo, so hopefully I'll get that to share at some point. They had an open house of sorts at the nursing home with food and a concert by one of the Waltham High School Show Choir groups. Pretty swanky place (for those that asked, she's here http://www.meadowgreen.org/)! I'm impressed that they are family owned and have been for 30 years.
From there we met B and T for dinner at Sugar and Spice in Porter - very yummy! It was nice to spend some time with them, because its been a while (being in a crowded room doesn't count as much, its just hard to keep focused on a conversation).
In pet news, Max has done well over the last few days and hasn't puked on the bed. I've given him just a mouthful of tuna and he seems to handle it well. Unfortunately my sister got bad news about her cat recently (Max's sister, and of the same age), that she's got a kind of feline Alzheimer's, and her major organs are shrinking and gradually losing functionality. She's looked pretty bad for a while and has had some minor tremors. My brother lost his cat last year, though very gracefully. Its so sad to see them go, though you know its got to come at some time.
Parties galore this weekend! I'm looking forward to seeing friends we haven't in a while. I'm also hoping to get a good deal of knitting in and finish up holiday preparations (I'm much less unorganized this year, the fall just kind of killed me with the Museum of Science events and other things).
