And in other news
Jan. 9th, 2006 08:20 amApparently the Dresden Dolls have (or will have this Tuesday) a new DVD out. Must pick it up! Related, the first season of the TV show "Fame" was released on DVD. I must also pick this guilty pleasure up!
I picked up some patterns this weekend and have plans to re-make some Rebel SW costumes (ANH Leia and White Battle Padme) since they could stand to be a bit more accurate and a bit more well made. I also have a neat idea for a fun dress for wearing at cons (using an old SW sheet that WaterChilde and Ro picked up for us at a flea market). I want to get our closet built before taking the dress form out of the box and getting back to sewing because I'd rather not get plaster dust all over it (who knows when we'll do that - maybe next weekend, after Arisia is done).
http://2006.arisia.org/ is this weekend, and Brian and I will be there Saturday (he earlier in the day in his Fett presenting at the 11:00 SW Costuming panel, me showing up in rebel gear after ballet class). I haven't figured out which costume I'm going to wear, but I'm leaning toward the white battle Padme (its kind of a work in progress, but its a casual event, so I think it will be OK). Arisia lends itself to skimpy or tight costumes methinks and I'm getting really sick of the Leia (mostly because of having to deal with putting the hair in). I have to figure out a better way to make it work.
Brian is trooping at the MOS tonight, so I'm looking forward to taking time tonight to get our winter holiday decorations put away, putting the attic in some kind of order (I want to create a dance space for myself, and put a ballet barre in there at some point), giving myself a manicure, and sitting with a facial masque on while knitting and watching some TV. We've been spending a good deal of time around the house enjoying it for once, and its nice to not be running around so much. I can't believe I've pretty much read a book a week since the new year, and I'd like to stick to that general trend.
