Poor Brian is suffering from a cold. What a great day for him to have to take the cat to the vet and shovel 1/2 of the snow (I did the rest when I got home, "Heart Attack Snow" indeed! - Thanks for the reference, D). I got together our dinner (mac and cheese - we seriously need to go food shopping) and made him a huge glass of lemon ginger tea. Then we settled into the couch in the Den to relax. He slept most of the time in a cold medicine haze, I was under a blanket with the chills and watching MTV's Made (it was so weird, seeing Frank on there - really good episode though, I'm going to ask Brian to capture from the cable box so I can show the few of you that wanted to see it).
I also caught 4 more episodes of Fame. It keeps reminding me of weird 80's fashions, like long sweatshirt dresses. I've found 3 recognizable other actors from it thus far: Fran Drescher played a snooty girl in the first episode from the cool crowd who looked down on the new girl that plays the cello, the guy who was Horshack in Welcome Back Kotter (works at a music store and sells Martelli a synthesizer), and some hispanic guy that I swear was on 21 jump street, but I can't find his name or photo anywhere (he doesn't have a main role and he never talks, but he's always hanging around the main characters and is a pretty good dancer, like he was Debbie Allen's dance partner in a big dance number in one of last night's episodes). Its so cheesy, but I never realized (or rather I forgot) that they touched on some pretty serious issues in that show. The last episode that we watched was about Doris making friends with a 16 year old prostitute and trying to help her get off of the streets (she was also researching what that life was like for an acting class project where they were asked to portray something very unlike themselves). Other episodes touch on discrimination, the role of connections in show business, stage fright, gun violence and teacher unions. Then of course there is Leroy's ongoing story, with trying to make it in the school facing tons of odds outside (living alone and taking care of himself in Harlem, having an excon brother who tries to mooch off of him, facing educational barriers). I'm definitely glad I plunked down the cash for this set, and I really hope they release more!
No word on Max from the vet yet, I'll let you know when I hear. Related, he peed on our bed last night (and had on Saturday) so we have dirty blankets to wash and have to keep him out of the bedroom since the waterproof mattress cover is in that pile o' stuff to wash, we've got 2 baskets of laundry from Sunday to put away still, piles of dishes in the sink (and a dishwasher to empty), a sick Brian, and a Jodi that seems to be coming down with a mild stomach bug. I'll play today by ear and see if I'm going to miss dance class. I guess we were about due for something like this given that its going around all over the place . . .
