10 Simple Pleasures (do if you want, I don't like to pressure people with tagging):
-Hugging a love or a good friend
-A purring cat
-Rabbits running in random patterns
-dancing
-Curling up under my old patchwork quilt
-chenille
-tea and finger sandwiches with a friend
-chips, cheese and salsa
-driving with the windows down, singing
-salty ocean scents

Brian and I hit Home Depot last night to buy some hoses for AT-AT helmet version #2, and to check out deck boxes (we found one much cheaper ultimately at Target). He said it gets him all hot having a wife that knows her way around a hardware store. I further taunted him by commenting on the flexible shafts (a Dremmel attachment he's actually found quite useful in the past) and the lubricating tube (something that looked kind of like a packaged auto fan belt, we weren't really sure what you'd use it for). Luckily we didn't pass any stud finders, because I would have picked it up and aimed it at him (the things don't work that well anyway, and are only good for the humor they bring with their description). Construction can be a dirty business in more ways than one! That, or we're just easily amused!

Thanks to last night's adventures, my AT-AT helmet version #2 will be a lot lighter than version #1 (and will be finished for Friday's troop), and the pillows that we have for the new patio set chairs/benches will be nearby but won't get soaked in the rain. Now we just need some warmer weather and lounging in the back yard near a smoking grill can commence!

Max Update

He's been sticking to the first floor now exclusively. We haven't changed the litter box on the 2nd floor in a over a week or two.

He's peed on the loveseat he's claimed as his own a few times (its OK, the cushions are covered with a waterproof mattress pad). Its seems like all times were probably because his litterbox was too messy - he's such a damned neat freak! He misses the box given his frailty, gets the pee on the puppy training pads that are around and under the box, and since Brian and I are at work during the day and nobody is there to change the pads they sometimes end up quite saturated. We'll keep an eye on it to determine if its actually his pickiness OR if he's starting to lose control.

He's still eating well, still taking his shot, still affectionate as always. His puking is most definitely caused by coughing when he's got bad asthma (rather than the food itself not agreeing with him). He's puking every couple of days or so, so at least its improved from every morning. I feel so bad when he gets like that, because we can't do much of anything to treat the asthma (it would cause problems with his diabetes treatment). Its tough, you want to pet your cat because it makes them and you happy and all that, but the purring seems to make poor kitty's asthma worse :/

Max still defies the odds, and for that I am grateful. I know he's still the same Max, because he'll still seek us out despite his frailty when we come home from work, when we call his name, or when we're not feeling well (I've been battling a cold this week, and I've woken up from naps on the couch to find him precariously perched on my feet). I used to read to him a lot when I was in high school and college and was working on my homework, so I've started doing this again too - he seems to enjoy the attention (or perhaps he's just into V for Vendetta?).

So cute! I just want to go home and squeeze him!
