Young Homeowners Persist
May. 7th, 2006 07:30 pmA lot of you know Emily - here's an article I had to share in case you hadn't seen it:
http://www.boston.com/realestate/news/articles/2006/05/07/young_home_hunters_persist/
Change Dorchester for Waltham, make the combined income a bit higher, make the condo a house, make the purchase price higher, and you have our situation. Everything: the desire to stay in the hood, the confusion about a changing neighborhood, parents blaming "yuppies" for it all ('but you guys don't count'), the first time homebuyer class, endless searching and looking at piece of crap homes, and finally, that lucky one that we were able to make work.
Its got funk, but its our funk. I still can't believe that we did it sometimes. :)
