Sewing

I haven't been happy with my ANH Leia for a few reasons. The fabric wasn't perfect, it was a bit too short, and though the thing is supposed to be big, I think its been a bit *too* big (or perhaps it doesn't gather correctly at the waist since the fabric isn't correct). Either way, I was planning on making a new one in the new year.

I found the most PERFECT flowing fabric yesterday and picked it up. Rather than taking the same pattern and throwing the thing together (to wear at Arisia) I'm going to take my time, do some more research, read the bit in Dressing a Galaxy about the dresses (she had a couple versions apparently) and make a perfect dress with my perfect fabric. It will be fun to get into sewing again. After that is done I'm going to work on a new Padme outfit, TBD. The thing that always eludes me with Padme is her hair. I have a difficult enough time with the Leia buns, so I don't see myself putting crazy things into my hair to go along with most of those Padme gowns. I'm thinking fireside, maybe.

Anyway, squee for perfect fabric goodness! The stuff is so lush and so perfect (and the absolutely fabulous guy working at the fabric store agreed with me, when I told him what it was for). :)

I have to stop by Venus Cosmetics before Arisia and get myself some more hair extensions. Given that the troop is a causual one, given that the crowd is kind of naughty, and given that my dress is shorter than it should be - I'm going to make Ms. Leia look a bit naughtier, starting with the Trooper Groupie boots!
