The new Rush and Tori Amos albums are released today.

There's Placebo's new Kate Bush cover (apparently from an album that's entirely covers, available only on iTunes).

I read about http://www.thepuppinisisters.com/ in Bust magazine, and they were on WBUR this morning. I need to pick up some of their music.

While waiting for late night greasy Chinese at Tiki House on Saturday, I caught in The Phoenix that The 10,000 Maniacs are doing an outdoor show in Lowell this summer http://www.lowellsummermusic.org/artistphp/profile.php?artist=10k_maniacs.html

The lusty, musical month of May! :)

Give him an old Ben Cooper Boba Fett costume for his son to use.

My co-worker is a big Star Wars fan, and he revealed recently that Boba is his favorite character. We started talking about the upcoming SW stamps which lead to a conversation about collectibles in general. He said that he's been killing himself to try and get one of those old Ben Cooper costumes for his son to wear.

Brian's had one in his display cases for a while. Its been worn before but was in good shape, and we picked it up one day at Outer Limits. Its not like we could do anything with it, but it just seemed like the sort of thing you shouldn't leave behind. It was still in the box, albeit a very beat up box. The original price tag read $5.xx (the right side of the tag was ripped) and we paid something like $20-$40 for it.

We were up in Brian's room last night and he pointed out where the new Galactica helmet will go once its completed, and how he needed to make room elsewhere in the display cases. I remembered my co-worker and told Brian how he had been searching for one of those Ben Cooper costumes. Brian looked at me, looked at the case, opened the door and dug it out. "Are you sure you want to give it to him"? Brian replied "What am I going to do with it? If some little kid can get some use out of it, it will be much better than sitting here. Besides, it frees up room for more stuff".

Sometimes my husband is such an old softie! This is also why I enjoy the little SW fandom universe. There are geeks everywhere if you look carefully enough, and oftentimes folks are good at trying to help each other along in their pursuits. My co-worker John tells me that he'll "get me back big time" at some point. We shall see how this plays out. If anything it does well for building relationships between departments. :)

Brian and I want to go - somewhere this year. Somewhere that's not a convention and isn't directly Star Wars related.

Our travel in 2006 included CA to The Presidio/Skywalker Ranch, FL for Star Wars Weekends at Disney and then Dragoncon. Thus far in 2007 we're been to NYC Comicon and we'll be going to Dragoncon over Labor Day weekend. We want to do something else not Star Wars related! Domestic, leaning to the affordable side. Trying to conserve funds is why we didn't go to two far away weddings of friends and its why we're driving to Dragoncon (should be an adventure). The fall is far enough off that we can save and plan for it. Nothing crazy, but something different.

Some ideas:
-We keep saying we're going to Vegas some fall for a long weekend
-Montreal? Too cold? Bad time of year? The prospect of driving there is attractive.
-A far away Faire? We love Sterling but we've done that before (we'd drive out and camp). Its early in the faire season so it would be a summer thing and not a fall thing. We keep saying we want to check out MD but its late in the year and it would be too cold to camp (I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to the cold). But the Medieval Babes are playing there over Columbus Day weekend! But that's only a month after Dragoncon. I wonder if any of the fine MD folks wanted to put us up for the weekend and come along with us (bats eyelashes)?

What would you do for a different kind of domestic travel weekend in October?
