Pure Energy
Jun. 14th, 2008 10:41 amOver the last few months we've really been trying to cut down energy usage - the bills were getting to be much more than I wanted to pay. With rate changes and increased useages our average monthly electric bill had gone from around $100 to $130. May's bill was only $110. June's bill is $90. Check out our usage over time:

In early May we hooked up the Smart Strip to our entertainment center.
In late May I started hanging the laundry out to dry in the yard whenever I could.
I had previously gone through the whole house to unplug things that don't need to stay on. Our teapot, toaster oven and microwave is unplugged unless we need it.
We changed all bulbs to flourescents.
Its cool to see it paying off, shaving $40 a month it seems off of what was becoming our average. Of course we'll see a bump with the AC (we have on in the den for the buns that's a climate control thing set to 76, and one in our bedroom that we turn on at night when we need it). I'm curious to see how the useage compares over the high months to last year.
