I'm feeling a bit of cabin fever. What's a straight-edge gal to do? I miss going out dancing, but can't swing it during the week when I have to get up so early for work.
I read livejournal and post here, and the public posts port their way over to Facebook. I check in there briefly each day to wish people a happy birthday and read the top few posts that show up on my phone screen, but I'm not there nearly enough to actually keep up with people. Similarly, I open the FB app on my phone when I'm at the gym to post that I'm there and the tunes I'm working out to, and then I close it so I can keep my hands on the elliptical. I'm trying the new machine (where your hands and legs are moving the same time) versus the old trusty Precor, because my body is too used to the latter. Man, is this a ramp up! Sweat and getting the heart rate up (I love that it has a monitor on the machine - I check periodically). I still need to work some kind of strength exercises into my routine reliably each week. My ballet class is a good mixed workout - stretching, cardio and strength training - if only we could do it a few times a week!
Back to the Facebook/Twitter thing, on the one hand I feel out of the loop, but on the other hand I can't figure out how people can manage to spend so much time on there and get other things done during the day. I look at a computer all day, so I don't feel like staring at a screen when I get home or over the weekend (this includes my phone). Luddite? There is only so much time in the day and there are other things I'd rather be doing.
Brian and I are still going to NYC next month, though our Spiderman show will be one of the pre-production ones. Hopefully none of the arial performers will fall on us since we're sitting in the fly zone. What else should we do when we are there? We only made a passing trip through the Met once for a particular exhibit, so I think it may be fun to spend a day there. The Cloisters were gorgeous but getting there via the subway was sketchy. Maybe actually get out to one of the other buroughs for once? Anything fun going on in the city between 2/10 and 2/12? We're staying at the hotel Wed, Thurs and Fri nights, and I'm hoping we can go visit Sharon and Toni on Saturday to Sunday in NJ, but I have yet to see how that works out on a map.
Meetings, meetings today and lots of things to but my motivation is low. I'm not normally one to complain about the weather, but I think we haven't had this consistent freezing precipitation for quite a while.
Seeing friends and family this weekend despite some storms, which I am happy about. :)
