I'm home today - its odd that this is a holiday for my company but other floater-type days are not. It was nice sleeping in, getting to see Brian in the morning and having time to get things done.
On Friday we went to what is becoming our favorite Mexican place for dinner (in the old Bickford's space on Rt. 30 in Framingham) and ran some errands in the monsoon before returning home to catch up on some DVRed shows. It was nice to spend the night just doing whatever with Brian.
I had ballet and acupuncture yesterday and some time at home before going to a 40th birthday party for a friend. There were so many good conversations, food and cake. I can't believe I have known most of these people for my entire life. I did what I do often: telling Brian I'd probably only be there for a few hours and stayed much longer. I should know by now how much of a butterfly I can be.
While Brian had folks over to cast their heads in plaster in our kitchen, I had plans with the Tiggerette. We planned to go for a walk in our hood but it was SO WINDY, so we drove out to walk around the Burlington Mall (indoors and large). I think everyone had the same idea, or it was the President's Day sales - I haven't seen it that crazy even during the Christmas season! We wandered through there, made our way to the Wayside Commons to check out the Border's books which was also crazy (going out of business sale) and headed back to our hood to have afternoon tea at http://www.thetealeaf.us/. This is my most favorite place for tea, because it is convenient, good, reasonably priced and not stuffy at all. Sally is the most gracious host, and the busy trend continued with all tables being filled with folks. We were there for almost two hours (!) and then headed home to catch up on how the plaster projects were going. I left the crew to head up to NH to talk with the Bro in law about insurance.
I am getting used to that crazy house being theirs now. The nephews are so cute, and the middle one (2 years old) is extremely vocal, telling me what everything in the house is and repeatedly saying "AUNTIE! AUNTIE!". She should rent that kid out to cheer people up who are in a bad mood. I'm in the middle of my open enrollment period at work and brother in law can sell me life insurance for more coverage for less money than my employer can (and, I take it with me if I ever don't work for the company any more). It's one of those boring adult things that's been on the list to look into beyond the easy option I've been taking through my payroll deduction (less coverage for more money). It was a nice visit.
I did have some plans today with friends and their kids, but they are being tweaked a bit from lunch and shopping at Savers to a later lunch and visit, given that one of them has to make a visit to the doctor for an ear infection, poor guy. Just being home with the house to myself to do whatever I would like (no matter how dorky or practical it is) is just heavenly. Laundry is finishing up in the basement, I'm going to spend some time working on my Happiness Project Plan, I'll probably fill out some of this sexy life insurance paperwork, and I may get into some sewing. I'm sure there is also a visit to Sharma in my future too. I am blessed.
