Crazy weekend
Jun. 27th, 2011 01:45 pmI had Friday off of work and did a ton of things: new driver's license, some shopping, an MD appointment, caught up on So You Think You Can Dance. Napped with a cat for 2 hours. That night we went to Kowloon for dinner - not the best Chinese food but there's something about that place. We met friends at Maddy's across Rt. 1 to see our friend's KISS tribute band, KissNation play. They were great and we had a super-fun time, though Maddy's isn't the type of joint I could see myself frequenting often - heh.
We slept in on Saturday before going out to Rebecca and Adam's wedding. It took place at various MIT sites (where they both met many years ago) and it was the geekiest wedding in the best way ever. I am so happy for them and felt so loved to be included in it all. I've still not recovered from the schmoop. The food, oh the food: all of their favorite things. Thai from Brown Sugar (or is it Brown Spice?) in Boston, ribs and sides from Redbones, vegetarian from Red Lentil in Watertown. Amazing brownies with berries and whipped cream. Brian and I ducked out a bit early right before the ice cream truck (!) showed up outside, but we would not have been able to have fit any more food. Late Saturday night we headed to Can't Stop the Serenity at the Coolidge Theater - a fundraiser for Equality Now. We weren't feeling the costuming love and were tired and it was rainy, but we did our part.
Our friend James who recently moved to Japan was in town and we made plans to go to Hampton Beach with him on Sunday, meeting up with some other peeps that were free. I am happy to say that Mrs. Mitchell's gift shop has rebuilt itself - it was the shop on the corner of the block that had the massive fire last summer. There is a smaller new store now on that corner and the rest is a big parking lot. The new bandstand and buildings on the beach side of the street are wonderful and I can't wait to see it all when it's done. The place was crazy crowded which made me very happy. Things haven't been so busy there over the past couple of years. We had lunch and fried dough and sat on the sand and had ice cream. And Skee Ball and Pac Man! Brian and I recovered from our crazy weekend on the porch with the cats last night, thank goodness for an easy leftover Kowloon dinner.
We're both feeling a bit lax on our eating and exercise lately so we'll be climbing back into the wagon this week. I made it to the gym today!
Have a great week folks!
