Friday was the Hobbit. My sister was originally going to watch Mina, but she came down with the flu and made arrangements with Grammy and Papa instead. It worked out well, because we drove up, get her dinner, set up her bed and then headed for our own dinner. http://www.tacoscolima.com/ was really good! We caught the movie in Lowell after a trip to Starbucks. Sans baby! Sitting and conversing like adults in cushy leather chairs! Thanks to the friends that met us at the theater: it is fun going to movies with friends and we don't get to do it often much anymore. I have been waiting to see a good Hobbit movie since I was 12 and read the book in 7th grade (thank you Mr. Lee at St. Patrick's School in Watertown). I was not disappointed. 2 more - how do we wait?!
We slept over at my parent's house on the couch and Mina did well there, waking around 5:00 for a bottle and then she snuggled between us until about 7:30 (super late for her). We had a family breakfast and then headed home to get some things done, bathe the babe and prepare for her first haircut. Every 5-6 weeks or so we go to http://www.dhrstylists.com/. Brian gets a cut each time and I alternate, and they peek at Mina's head to see how her's is doing. Miss M was way past due, and sat in my lap for a little trim. They even gave her a bright blue maraca as a souvenier (which she LOVED). I cannot believe our girl is so old!
We were supposed to celebrate Xmas with my family since my brother, sister in law and their son are going to visit her family out of state for the holiday, but they are also battling the flu, so the plans were changed. We headed back up Rt. 3 to a friend's holiday party instead that we had planned to hit on the way to NH (and then were sleeping over at EJ's, was the original plan). Good food was had, Mina was an angel. Our friends were very sweet and gave her some gifts which she absolutely loved. She was bottled, PJed and we headed home.
I missed seeing my family for the big sleepover, but boy was it nice to be home on Sunday! We got a lot of things done, did some nesting and took a brief trip out to explore http://www.lakeshorelearning.com/ after running some errands. Oh. Boy. Dangerous! Prices were very high in some areas and not in others. Least of all, its a good place for inspiration.
Yesterday was our last group for this session at http://www.cobblestones4families.com/ . We'll be back again in January and Mina is graduating to the next group as she's moving around like a crazy monkey. We went up to Haverhill to visit Nana Jan before she leaves for Omaha, and then back home for dinner, bathtime and COOKIES. Brian and I make a ton of pizelles each year for gifts, and last night we cooked 3 batches. That is a lot of cookies. My coworkers got some, and we had plates for our child care center and for Cobblestones - our extended 'families' and support systems for Mina.
I cannot believe that this time last year I was just miserable with horrible edema, waiting to have my baby. I was covered with a weird rash that we never did find out its origin (I can only imagine it was hormonal in nature and related to the pregnancy, though it didn't present like PUPPS). So much has taken place in the last year. Nutso!
