I finished the dress today pretty much (still needed to hem it and do the bustle) and just tried it on. It looks like ass. Something funky happened in the construction of the bodice and the drape across the front looks all wrong.
So its scrapped. The parts will be thrown in a bag in the back of a closet and probably thrown away years from now. Thats lots of $, lots of time and an excited dream of my own homemade ballgown down the tubes.
Looking back I'm thinking I should have done a muslin one first, or stopped along the way, or been more picky about little messups (rather than thinking 'its ok, that part isn't going to show up anyway').
But man that was a pretty blue.

So I guess I'll just wear my Lip Service pleather ballgown. I can still wear the hat, gloves and necklace with it.
And I'll start working on Dragon Con stuff now.
Harump! One of these days when I'm not working full time and going to grad school I'll learn to alter patterns and draft my own.
