I've been a bit of a slacker in the health department as of late, so I'm going to make a go of starting the Self Challenge again: http://www.self.com/challenge/ . It really helped get me motivated and track workouts and eat well the last time I did it.
In prepping for this I needed to figure out what my daily caloric intake should be (according to their calculator, 1805) and how it should be broken up. I am finding that:
-Saturated fats add up fast, yikes!
-I'm eating way more protein than I need to (so far I'm 30 grams over, and I'm not a huge meat eater at all).
I'm not going to go nuts and scrutinize everything, I found that when I did the challenge last year I learned how to eat well after a few weeks of keeping the food diary. I try to think of food as fuel for my body but I haven't been doing a great job about making sure I am totally aware of the qualities of said fuel.
So, tonight B and I are going to The Middle East to watch my teachers bellydance while we try and have an appetizer, dinner and perhaps dessert (so we can drag out the time that we have a table and thus a good seat to view the dancing). I'm not sure how I'm going to accomplish this by eating little to no protein and very little saturated fats (I still have way more calories and carbs to go so its not like I *can't* eat anything, I'd just need to be creative).
Oh, want to join us for dinner and the show? My guess is that we'd snag a table at around 9:00 PM (yeah its late, but the dancing starts at 9:30). Let me know before 4:00 PM, because that's when I leave work and I won't be at a computer most likely before taking off for tonight's festivities.
