Brian and I ended up not having much energy to do much else yesterday (after house stuff) so we ended up on the couch with the AC watching TV. We saw the tail end of "The Lost Boys", saw some neat home remodeling show on the Discovery Channel where they turned someone's teeny ranch into a medieval castle (that was awesome) and then finally caught MTV's "Icon", where they honored Metallica.

I have to tell you, despite Load and Reload and all the Napster shit, I'm really proud of what these guys have done. I *want* to like their new album, but I'm not going to pay for it unless I like it. A friend made a copy for me and I just need to meet up with him to get it.

They had a profound effect on the music I listened to in my life and still do, years later. I remember the excitement of finding more pictures or interviews with them in metal magazines (yay for useless trivia, I was suprised that they did mention Dave Mustaine in the "Icon" show when talking about the band's history, but no mention of Ron McGoverny), getting one of those huge wall tapestries for my bedroom, and going to my first Metallica concert years later with Pete (it was a birthday present).

I'm off to wake up Brian so that we can eat breakfast and continue in the kitchen (priming walls, painting). I'm not artistic enough to do the "paint" (it gets applied with a putty knife in a purposeful pattern) so I'll most likely end up putting more screws into the floor and mowing our lawn while B is working on that. And in the 4 hours while the first coat dries, we have to bring all of our cabinets up from the basement to the first floor - fun fun fun! Then we HAVE to do the second coat today, it has to be put on within 4 hours (hence, why we have to do it on the weekend, no time after work during the week).

Yeah, so if you are bored, come chill with us :) If we're done with stuff at a reasonable time and its hot out we could go jump into my parent's pool, or something.
