The new cube

So we're in the other building. I got here at 7:30 to find my co-workers in the cafe waiting to be officially let in. It turns out that there was a problem with the testing of the fire alarms this weekend and they wanted to do some more drills before letting us unpack. Bagels, coffee and tea was also ordered to keep us amused while waiting to be let in to our space and to sustain us through the arduous task of unpacking.
There are a few picnic tables in the shade under a tree outside. You'd be amazed that we're across the street from Rt. 95 by all of the green and sounds of birds chirping. Last year someone put up a volleyball net here - I hope they do it again!
I've unpacked and the only thing lost is the black round piece that goes into my scotch tape dispenser. I need to find someone with a drill to hang my white board (man do I have the urge to start drawing)! I have a new (smaller) CD player that plays nature sounds of the ocean, brook, forest and wind to keep me company but I forgot the damned CDs again. Its amazing how much difference the window makes! I want to pick up some plants after work to put on the sill with my mini zen rock garden.
And there is an air vent behind me near the ceiling. The noise is kind of soothing - blocks out the sounds of plastic bins being crashed around and file drawers opening and closing. Today I'm back to the gym after a two week break; its only two floors underneath me.
So I'm in semi-corporate-heaven. Its amazing how much a change of atmosphere can do!
