Brian and I baked an apple pie for tomorrow. It just came out of the oven and DAMN does it look nice :)

This will go along with my Mom's dry turkey and the instant mashed potatoes and stuffing from a box (my brother informed Brian of this earlier today via AIM) :/

You know, I offered to host Thanksgiving dinner at our place this year - I figured we could fry the turkey and it would take some pressure off of my parents (they kind of 'inherited' the holiday after Nana sold her house and my Dad became a grump and insisted on not seeing any family members any more). My Mom's reply was "well wouldn't that be really fatty?"

****

I know that the holiday isn't about food at all (you know, that Peanut's Thanksgiving special? I'd be cool with toast, popcorn and candy if my loved ones were there). The problem is, it seems like my parents are just going through the motions and all of my loved one's *aren't* there.

Yeah this is nothing new, I'm still going to get bummed about it from time to time though.

I am feeling that way this year. My mom isn't the greatest cook and my favorite cousins are not coming. Just the really grumpy ones.

The best Thanksgiving I had was refegue Thanksgiving. I and the ex cooked for 30 folks. I popped out to my folks for 2.5 hrs and enjoyed the rest of the day with the people at my house.

Next year could you point out many of friends need a place to go for Thanksgiving and since it so much extra work for your mom, you would like to have friends *and* family over the holiday?

Thanksgiving was pretty bare for me too... just parents and brothers and sis. One aunt.... not the usual aunts and cousins, and grandmother :-/

Funny, my family is pretty insular and isolated. So unless my mom's sister invites us down we used to do just the immediate family. Of course with Shadow and I living where we do now, it seems to be an extended holiday with us dining with his step-mom, her boyfriend, her boyfriend's parents, his brother and his brother's girlfriend. And over the weekend we join my family (dad, mom, two brothers, me and Shadow)

Am thinking when Shadow and I get our own house will try hosting thanksgiving there, just inform them will be cooking dinner, if they want to come they can.
