Shut yer yappin!
Dec. 2nd, 2003 12:00 pmIt took me five hours to get to work today.
Oh yeah, either I have really shitty tires or that was the worst ice I've ever driven over. I did a 180 degree turn on the ramp off of 128 near the Genuity building (I decided that I was sick of sliding all over the place and would take the backroads through Burlington - Woburn - Winchester - Arlington - Medford to get to Malden instead). Of course, most other people on that ramp just stopped dead or pulled over into the grass but dammit, I had to pee and I was hungry!
(I'm not a bad driver either, I've been driving in the Boston area for over 12 years, am a step 9 *and* had crappy piece of shit rear wheel-drive vehicles w/ cement blocks in the trunk for the first 5 years of my driving life. I'm just kind of dumbfounded at how crappy and terrifying this morning was at times)
Heh, and I leave for school in 2.5 hours. I wonder if I'll make it there by 4:00 or not for my class, I'm supposed to do a presentation.
I feel dissed, no fun snow to play in, just ice, ice baby :)

Date: 2003-12-02 09:39 am (UTC)it's kind of sad when _my_ commute was shorter than yours. :)
of course, I left buttcrack early; before anything got REALLY bad it seems. I've given up on thinking about lunch - delivery or otherwise, just since everything is a mess out there! Good thing there's pretzels here. *crunch crunch*
Heh
Date: 2003-12-02 09:44 am (UTC)What's "buttcrack early"? I leave my house at 6:30 every day :)
I had food in my car but had to pee as it was so I just wasn't going there!
Re: Heh
Date: 2003-12-02 10:30 am (UTC)Aside from travelling for trade shows (being on the road); I've never even been AWAKE that early for work.
And after today, I'm thinking I might go in even earlier, just so I can miss most of the evening traffic and all that FUN that goes with it.
I had no food in my car, but did have tissues. Thank goodness.
*aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiueunwewueoaodpphhhhchoo!*

Date: 2003-12-02 09:43 am (UTC)I think the ice was the main contributor to your drive...
Call the school and see if you have classes tonight, lots of people probably just turned around or are still stuck or afraid of getting stuck tonight

Date: 2003-12-02 09:48 am (UTC)Aw Perseus, you're just so slick! ;)
Joking aside, most of my time was spent sitting in the scenic Rt. 128 parking lot (the rest of the time was sliding around).
