I wrote about 5 pages of my 15 page paper yesterday (and arranged all of my notes in order for the whole paper, so completing the rest of it only involves taking phrases and typing them into coherent sentences). I think its coming along very good. As I start my 3rd and final academic year of graduate school its nice to see things coming together. I mean, I really KNOW the concepts and can incorporate them into a variety of things (academic and otherwise, in conversations in the car with Brian, even). This is really a nice thing.

I'm almost done with "Return of the King", only about 20 or so pages left. Next I'll start on that "Urban Tribes" book which I'm guessing will be a short read. Damn, I also need to get my ass in gear and start and finish a sewing project that is a Christmas present for someone :)

Today is the Hafli though I'm not sure if we'll end up there (I really want to hang with S, I mailed her to see if there's something else she'd rather do).

The fam is coming over for breakfast this morning. This makes me happy; its been a while since we've done that. Dad is going to check out the stupid counter that's dropping in the corner since he did'nt put supports under it back there (we noticed by seeing a huge crack in the caulking as the counter dropped down a bit on the wall, grrr). I really want this kitchen to be done, dammit!

Yesterday was so nice. I spent a good deal of time on the paper and then B and I hit two small but fun get-togethers. Its amazing how many geeky people you can get into a small room (and then watch the myriad of conversations that occur, yikes)! I would love to get sewing with a group of women again, that would be fun.

Oh yeah, we picked up the "Two Towers" DVD set and are going to watch the extended movie at some point tonight (my guess is, probably around 7 or so) . . . come join us if you are interested (though, you'll have to deal with me pausing every once in a while to switch a load of laundry over - Sunday is laundry day!). :)

I've been trying to finish ROTK before the movie myself. I've been enjoying the whole, crazy phenomenon, but I'm relieved that the end is finally in sight. After reading both the trilogy and The Silmarillion, I think I need to move on before my brain falls out!
