Hey Everyone,

I went to see a musical production of "A Christmas Carol" in Stoneham last night - the cast was wonderful (in particular, their Scrooge was amazing, and Scrooge's nephew was fricken hot). My only complaint was that they didn't have a live orchestra doing the music (what can I say, I'm spoiled). It wasn't a musical in that 'musical comedy' or 'holiday revue' kind of way. Most of the show was dialogue (and it was narrated by various members of the cast - I really love this adaptation of it).

If Dickens is your thing and you're looking to support the arts locally, please check these guys out. The theater wasn't full last night so I'm guessing there are still tickets available. I can also suggest their 'dinner and a show' deal. It only cost us $10 additional to get the dinner and we went to a nice little Italian place across the street from
the theater (salad, entree, coffee and dessert was included).

Here's the link: http://www.stonehamtheatre.org/

I'm really looking forward to checking out one of their future productions: Lizzie Borden The Musical (!).

I guess the group has only been around since 2000 (this was news to me, I thought they were older than that).

The show was excellent, and there were a handful of performers that were noted as being in the actor's union (in my past shows with The Reagle Players there has only been one of these - and they were 'shipped in' from NYC for the lead role). There were some that really stand out, like Scrooge and Mr. Fizziwig, and Mr. Fizziwig's wife had an AMAZING voice (the blurb about her in a program said that she'll be directing her first opera soon). I recognized one of the women from a production of "Tomfoolery" that Krista was in with the Ubiquity Stage Company a few years ago, too.

I hope that the community appreciates this group and it can continue. The Reagle Players are going on something like 30+ years and have been such a gift to the Waltham community.
