The tax goddess helped us finish things up and submit them electronically last night so hopefully we'll see the refunds in a couple of weeks. We're getting a whopping $12 from the state of MA . . . we're going to treat ourselves to a nice Taco Bell dinner when that comes through. ;)
Master's Paper
Re-reading journal articles really was putting me to sleep last night. I went through only two of them (granted they were long articles), typing all my highlighted notes into a word document that will become my literature review. In addition I checked off cited sources in the back of the articles to also dig up at the library. I'm hoping that today during lunch I'll read through a few more and that after work I'll locate and copy the additional articles (so J, I won't be in the Weatley Cafe, I'll be somewhere in the library). I'll need to kick butt on this over the weekend and on next Tuesday night - my literature review is due a week from today.
I like how the process of the Master's paper course gives us structure to get the thing done. Having already done my proposal and then having the literature review finished I'll next do the methods and then data collection/analysis sections, combine all of those assignments into one big paper, write a conclusion and then pass in the first draft. I also have the opportunity to present at a poster fair in April (I haven't done that since, hmm, 1996 or 1997 I think) and the final draft is due in early May. I could care less about publishing this - my work is merely from an applied perspective and I'm looking to gain insight into something related to my job that will assist my company. I'm not going down the theory-driven, academic research track in my career.
God, I can't wait!
