In case you were wondering
Mar. 22nd, 2004 12:36 pmI have these black pants that I love - I wear them to work once a week and sometimes out to a club. They are comfy, I got them at Sears for $9 years ago. I'd cry if these things gave out on me. There's been a teeny hole in the crotch for I can't remember how long. Have I mended this? No - I keep forgetting. I also have a huge rubbermaid bin with other things that need to be hemmed, mended, reworked, whatever.
I noticed today that the hole mysteriously got larger on me since last week (oops)! Its still hidden and all but man, that's kind of scary. All I need is for the seat of my pants to give out on me.
I do have spare clothes for dance class out in my car and you want to know what? I love those black yoga pants too. And you know what else? There's a teeny hole in the crotch of *those* pants too. Have I mended it? No. I always make sure I wear black underwear with them.
So you all know now how it a) is hard for me to throw things away b) I get attached to certain pieces of clothing and c) some things get left to the absolute possible last minute while I deal with other stuff (i.e. I don't have it all together as much as some of you may think).
Here's hoping these pants hold out through the end of the work day and my class until I get to Central Square at around 7:00 and change into my dance clothes. My Persephone dance is tonight too with holey-crotched pants and all!
PS, FNX played a song by Tim Curry before that I had never heard. It was kind of sucky. The classic Ska though ("Under Pressure") makes up for it.

Date: 2004-03-22 09:58 am (UTC)as for making sure to wear black underwear, i finally got around to sewing up my black stretch pants for that exact reason. *grin*
it feels good to finally get them all fixed.
Mending
Date: 2004-03-22 10:10 am (UTC)I just need to put aside the time to do it. It wouldn't take me long - its just I always, always forget. :)
And we also now know that you wear black underwear.
Date: 2004-03-22 10:29 am (UTC)Mending things is such a bother for me, too. I have a bag of pants that I bought over two years ago that I never hemmed. Part was the fear of sewing a straight line, and partly because there was always something else that warranted my attention at any given time.
On the hard to throw things away part: this is why none of my friends have seen my basement. Ever. :)
Re: And we also now know that you wear black underwear.
Date: 2004-03-22 11:09 am (UTC)Um, I've worked at 2 lingerie stores and had employee discounts at both of them, so that may tell you something :)
I *only* have a few pairs of crotchless undies - mainly since I loved the colors, they matched something else I owned, and they were on sale. I think functionally they are stilly though.

We have the joy of having our own crap AND other people's in our basement. Whee, fun!
Persephone Dance
Date: 2004-03-22 10:38 am (UTC)Is the choreography flexible enough so that, say if you were suddenly inspired to go to Ceremony this evening, you could adapt it to other songs?
Re: Persephone Dance
Date: 2004-03-22 11:17 am (UTC)It sort of reflects the initial fright at darkness, missing the light, realizing that the darkness isn't so bad after all, and encorporating both parts into oneself.

Not really. Also, after running around all day yesterday, getting up at 5:45 AM and going non-stop until 9:15 tonight I won't be in much of a mood for Ceremony. Graduate School is such an energy suck!
