Fun with dumpsters, work is progressing, Shrek 2 (no spoilers)
Last night after a stop at the pet store I singlehandedly threw A LOT of stuff into a dumpster. There was a monstrous metal file cabinet, some old kitchen cabinets, many heavy 5 gallon joint compound buckets filled with God knows what and some random heavy cubicle desktops left. These waited for Brian to get home since my arm still hasn't completely healed yet and I wasn't going to attempt to move these things by myself. I'm totally amazed, because save for the chewed wood around the bunny's house and the peed-on floor inside the bunny's house - the dumpster has all in it that we planned on throwing away and there is still room to spare.
Tonight we'll probably finish patching, and do a Home Depot run to get supplies for the bunny cage area repairs (a sheet of plywood and some wood to make trim with). After that's taken apart (we're waiting till the last minute - I'd prefer to let the buns enjoy their little home as long as possible) all that's left is touch-up paint in rooms where we took chunks out of the wall in the process of taking down artwork (and thus had to patch). Oh yeah - and final random packing. Freaky!
8 DAYS until the house is emptied, 9 days till we close.

Brian got home and I switched to making dinner mode while he threw the heavy stuff out (mmmm, lemon-chicken stir fry). After dinner he continued to throw things away (God, Brian has a lot of crap) while I packed up things in the shed and threw some things away (a broken weed-wacker, rollerblades that Brian is never going to wear again, some landscaper fabric that we don't feel like moving). Outside work that remains will be mowing the lawn one last time, and some attempt at pulling out/cutting down large obvious weeds.
We finished our tasks for the evening around 8:00 somehow, and sat down to watch some VH1 and saw a bit of 'The Making of Shrek'. Since most of the components of the entertainment center are packed, to tune channels we have to scroll up and down using the button that's on the Cable box . . . hence, we've pretty much just been watching VH1 since that's the channel that's on there. I'm not a big TV watcher, so this is very odd. Anyway, though the mind was into going to Ceremony, the body (and lower back most importantly) was better off not dancing if I'm to get through the next couple of weeks. We were planning on waiting for Shrek 2 to come out on video because we've heard mixed reviews of it but after seeing a couple of scenes changed our mind. We rushed around to get out of the dirty work clothes and headed to the theater. That's one thing I'll miss - being within a 5 minute drive of a good AMC theater. And the Natick Mall, and Borders. It does make it convenient when we need something (but the inconvenience of our work and most of our friends being a distance away won the battle).
We really loved the movie and it was just what we needed. Most notably were references to Godzilla, Flashdance, and a cartoon version of the "bedroom eyes" that our cat Max gives to us when he really wants something. Also, I had no idea that Julie Andrews, John Cleese and Rupert Everett were in the movie either!
Hopefully today we'll find out A) where we are closing B) when we are closing and C) how $ from the Framingham close will get in a form to use at the Waltham close. My - its an exciting life we lead!
