In less than a month we'll be at the Fleet Center seeing the man.

I haven't been there since it was the Garden (!) and that was at the tour that Aerosmith played with the Mighty Mighty Bosstones as openers. The Bosstones were a crappy arena band (I much preferred them in a small venue; a couple of years before I saw them at Brandeis University in their ballroom and ironically Brian was there at the same show hanging out with friends of mine from Waltham that were pit rats - though we didn't meet till a year or so later). My dad had bought 4 tickets - He and Mom, me and Cynthia (EJ was too young at the time). Cynthia was being a teenager with an attitude at the time that didn't want to go to a concert with her parents . . . so my cousin Karen went instead. My dad hated the Bosstones and made fun of them during the whole set (and then made fun of me mercilessly after the show for liking them). MAN could Steven Tyler and Joe Perry put on a show! I'm glad we caught their tour last year and got to see the blues part, complete with lots of neon signs of flashing curvy women on stage.

Anyway, it was the Garden still back then. Later it would be ripped apart and the score board would end up in the Arsenal Mall food court (next to the world's largest FootLocker store). But I digress - we'll be seeing THE MAN at the Fleet Center in mid. August. You have no idea how excited I am about this (and how psyched I was to open that birthday card from Brian last month)

I love this song off Musicology. I think it would be nice to choreograph a bellydance to at some point

As war drums beat in Babylon
Cinnamon girl starts 2 pray
Eye've never heard a prayer like this 1
Never b4 that day

Tearful words of love 4 people she had never met b4
Asking God 2 grant them mercy in this face of a holy war

Cinnamon Girl

Cinnamon Girl of mixed heritage
Never knew the meaning of color lines
911 turned that all around
When she got accused of this crime

So began the mass illusion, war on terror alibi
What's the use when the god of confusion keeps on telling the same lie?

Cinnamon Girl

Don't cry, don't shed no tears
1 night won't make us feel
Cause we know how this movie's ending

Cinnamon Girl

As war drums beat in Babylon
And scorch the blood red sky
Militants bomb the foreign gun
Both sides truly die

Cinnamon girl opens the book she knows will settle all the scores
Then she prays after the war that there will not b anymore

Cinnamon Girl

The Bosstones

"That's because an arena is the wrong venue to appreciate the most important member of the Bosstones: the dancing guy."

All he did was skip back and forth across the stage. He was the one my dad liked to make fun of the most: "What the hell is that guy's point? The band is so shitty they need to have a guy skipping across the stage to take your attention away from the fact that they can't play their instruments?"

I do prefer their ska-core stuff (i.e. earlier albums) that they put out on TAANG much more than the later stuff. I never really thought of them as serious musicians as much as a fun band to bop around to (and there wasn't much bopping to be done sitting in a chair in the Boston Garden). :)
