. . . and bring it to Fran at the tan van, who gives it to Stan (or whatever the actual dialogue was, I can't remember - anyone?)

I feel so sneaky - I went to Sewfisticated during lunch (that's not the sneaky part, I am allowed a lunch hour). I bought some velvet for one of Brian's Aragorn tunics (that's not the sneaky part either - you all knew I was working on that). I picked up 5 yards, a bunch of hem tape, some needles and thread . . . and it all came to $35! God I love that store :)

I feel bad for the woman that measured my fabric, who had just spent an hour helping 2 women select fabric. She cut it out (all $430 worth), rang them up, and found their credit card declined. They left "to get cash". The women at the store weren't counting on them coming back.

I tell you, I do not miss working retail, at all! The discount was great and everything, but it wasn't worth the hassle :)

"I take the Golden "An", and I put it in the tan van. I take it to Dan, who takes it to Fran. Yeah, that's the plan."
"That's the plan?"
"What, who said that?"
"My name is Stan, I'm the man. You just got 15 years in the can for stealing the Golden "An". Let's go."
"Aw, I shoulda ran."

Oddly enough, so does Sewfisticated :) I've found stuff there to be way cheaper than in Chinatown (though the selection varies from time to time).

i would have been so mad if that was me behind the counter. i would have told them that either one had to stay till the other got back, or that one would have to leave their drivers license or something to ensure they were coming back. man, i would have probably yelled at them, too. i find i do that more now that i'm older. i guess i just don't have tolerance for assholes anymore (hence my fight with the red sox drunk after ceremony last night).

"left to get cash"

hey, i think i've met those people. they were trying to buy the two most expensive pieces of Swarovski Crystal from me when i worked at the Hallmark store. their second question, after the credit card was declined was, "may we write a check?" umm..... that would be a hearty No.

*maytheirbadcreditdebtlandtheminjail*

i hate people who do that. it's not the sales clerk's fault that people are assholes, but it puts them in a bad mood for the rest of the day. i try to keep that in mind when i find i am dealing with a surly clerk. :)
