Free bellydance class this weekend
Aug. 11th, 2004 08:46 amMy teachers are doing a free beginner level dance class this Saturday at 1:00 in Brookline (are training someone else to teach, and want bodies in the room to help out). Here's the info:

Feline and I are going, as is Eustaciavye. Does anyone else want to join? This is a perfect opportunity for those of you who thought you may want to try bellydance at some point. :)
EDIT: FELINE, I guess we need to pre-register (space is limited). I just e-mailed them about it for us. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Bellydancing
Date: 2004-08-11 06:05 am (UTC)They are really good with beginners, because they stress the basics and correct posture and all that stuff (so you can't hurt yourself). I think they are good at showing the basic pieces that all of the moves come from. The class is taught from a new-agey perspective (they *are* called "The Goddess Dancing"). And they are just a fun group of women :)
"What should I plan on wearing?"
Just something comfy. Some people were stretchy pants or sweatpants, some shorts, some broomstick skirts. Then some people wear t-shirts, others tank tops, others sports bras, and others choli tops (the middle eastern style crop tops). I'll probably go in stretch pants, a sports bra and tank top (and if its really hot take off the tank top).
They'll probably have veils for people to play with, and may even have hip scarves to play with. If you have any jingly belts it doesn't hurt (making noise during shimmies is all part of the fun). I can also bring some things I have to share.
Let me know if you want to drive in on your own or car-pool (parking around there can be pretty tough sometimes).
Whee!

Date: 2004-08-11 07:35 am (UTC)Well, since Brookline is 20 minutes from my house I thought it would be easier if you came out to Waltham (rather than me going to Malden, and all the way back in that direction to Brookline).
Deana is showing up at noon and then we'll take off. It only takes 20 minutes, but parking in Coolidge Corner can be difficult at times (if we got there early there are lots of little shops to browse in before the class).
Just let me know :) I'll understand if its easier for you to go right there - either way, I don't need any gas $ :)

Date: 2004-08-11 07:43 am (UTC)If you could email me directions to your new place in Waltham, that would be awesome :) I can meet you there a little before noon.
Re: Bellydancing
Date: 2004-08-11 07:49 am (UTC)I just sent them over - let me know if you don't get them.
Now, here's hoping they'll have room for all of us in the class :)
This Saturday's class is already full
Date: 2004-08-11 07:55 am (UTC)Hi,
Unfortunately, the class for this Saturday is full. However, we have
put your name on the waiting list. You are number 5 on the list. We hope
we will be able to accomodate everyone on the waiting list, depending
on the space.
Hope to see you there!
