Community and weather

dancerjodiI'm learning the the Star Wars fandom community is one that can be very caring and supportive. It will be nice to meet some of these peeps in person at the Matters of the Force events this weekend.
I'm on the Yahoo group for planning, mainly to keep up on what's going on with panels and celebrities. In addition to this type of discussion there's been much talk of the charity auction, David Prose's surgery and recovery (the guy in the Vader suit . . . he was going to DC but had to have emergency surgery and can't - the group is going to have a card for people to sign). There's also a lot of talk of people dealing with their own sick or recently passed relatives, or their concern about the recent bout of hurricanes and where it will leave guests, family and others in both the Atlanta area and "back home", wherever that is for these people.
Can I just say that I love living in New England? This humidity and hurricane threat stuff is for the birds. I mean sure, we get "hurricanes", but they pare in comparison to the others that rip people from their homes (except of course for those that live on the coast - but duh - you live next to the ocean, its an added risk).
The more hot it gets, the more I crave the cool fall sweater-wearing nights. Its going to be weird not having a fireplace this year (here's hoping the electric woodstove that we've yet to acquire will suffice to set the mood and feel).
